For us at Tagged, Social Discovery has been a focus for some time now, however the category seems to have really taken off in the last year or so. This was clearly evidenced in the latest installment of Glimpse: the social discovery conference, in New York City, on October 18.
We ventured back to the Big Apple for Glimpse NYC to join some of the industry’s greatest tech minds on the East Coast for an evening of panels and conversation at Bloomberg’s HQ. The topics and participants kept us all engaged, as we listened to the experts dive in to product, brand, news and social discovery.
Our CEO, Greg Tseng, joined fellow Glimpse veteran, Geoff Cook of MeetMe, on the People Discovery panel, which was moderated by Sarah Frier of Bloomberg and included Brian Schechter of HowAboutWe and Brett Martin of Sonar.
Greg and his fellow panelists highlighted how Social Discovery has become more of ”the norm” for consumers, and talked about why people are looking to meet and find new people. The panelists spoke of the challenges their companies face in facilitating hyper-local matching, and acknowledged the differences between men and women in approaching the world of online flirting and dating.
The entire Glimpse panel lineup was incredible, and the whole evening clearly captured the energy of Social Discovery in NYC. #Glimpsenyc was even trending in the U.S. by the end of the night!
Our team wrapped up the event more excited than ever to be a part of the meet-new-people movement. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Glimpse and Social Discovery.
